It may be the season for planning outdoor entertaining and alfresco dining with family and friends. But autumn/winter will come round quickly, making this the perfect time to start preparing for those chilly months ahead. With energy bills due to increase yet again this October, multi-fuel stoves are a great source of heat and can be installed in all styles of home, from country cottages to modern new builds. The new A+ rated Loxton 5 dual control multi-fuel stove from Mendip is an update on the Loxton 5 MK4 SE and now features a larger square window, sleek flat door design and a new handle.

Available in two models – floor standing or with a log store – the Mendip Loxton 5 dual control multi-fuel stove blends traditional craftsmanship with a streamlined contemporary look. With a 5kW heat output, it will keep living areas, dining rooms and dens warm and cosy while its dual control system makes it easy to use. There is a primary control to control the air from below, ideal for when lighting wood or burning coal, as well as a secondary control to regulate the air from above when burning wood. This uses the stove’s air wash system to help keep the viewing door glass clean for a spectacular view of the flickering flames inside.

Designed in Mendip’s UK factory deep in the Mendip Hills of the West Country, the new Loxton 5 is Ecodesign Ready in line with the new Clean Air legislation that has come into effect this year. The firebox has bespoke cast iron grates and is fully lined with 30cm vermiculite to give a clean high temperature chamber. It’s ideal for both large and small rooms and can also be installed within timber-framed buildings due to its low distance to combustible walls.
