Somerton Secondary Air Plate - Lower

This lower secondary air plate fits the Somerton II stove, matching the V1 build produced between October 2013 and March 2014, and weighs approximately 1kg. It forms part of the stove's secondary air (air-wash) system, which is separate from the primary air supply that feeds the base of the fire. Secondary air is drawn in and directed down across the inside of the glass door before reaching the firebox, which serves two purposes: it helps keep soot and tar from building up on the glass so the fire stays visible, and it feeds additional oxygen into the upper part of the firebox to support more complete combustion of the gases given off by the burning fuel. The lower air plate is one of the components that shapes and directs this airflow, so if it becomes warped, corroded, or clogged with ash and soot over time, the air-wash effect can weaken — often noticed first as glass blackening more quickly than it used to. Because the secondary air system is engineered specifically for each stove's firebox geometry, this plate is matched to the Somerton II V1 build (October 2013 to March 2014) rather than being interchangeable across other Somerton builds or other stove models. If you're unsure whether your stove matches this exact build and date range, check the data plate or ask Eurostove to confirm before ordering.
